How to Weld Copper Wire and Copper Sheet

In the manufacture of electronic components, the connection of the copper wire and the brass sheet is generally done by soldering, which is troublesome and the welding effect is not good. At present, many of our customers choose spot welders to complete welding. Of course, there are also many methods and things to pay attention to. Let’s share with you today.

1. Both the copper wire and the brass sheet have very good electrical and thermal conductivity properties, so be sure to choose a resistance welding equipment with stable and concentrated welding current. We recommend using an intermediate frequency inverter DC spot welding machine.

2. The welding parameters of red copper wire welding and brass spot welding are similar, and both follow the welding method of high current and short time. If the current is small, the purpose of welding cannot be completed, and if the time is long, the strength of the material itself will be destroyed, or even fuse.

3. Spot welding of copper wire and copper sheet, especially spot welding of red copper wire, the welding pressure must be stable, and the followability of the cylinder should be good. The workpiece can be given continuous and stable pressure during the welding process to form a good welding product.

4. The choice of electrode materials. Of course, copper or brass electrodes cannot be used for welding copper wires and brass. Chrome-zirconium copper is not a very good choice. We recommend that you choose tungsten-copper alloy materials with higher hardness and higher melting point. For electrodes, such copper wire welding can achieve good results.

5. The shape design of the electrode head needs to be tailor-made according to the actual needs of the product and the needs of welding.

6. For the welding of copper wires with larger specifications, multi-pulse discharge welding should be used to increase the preheating current and tempering current. This is very common in copper braided wire forming welding.

The conditions of copper wire welding, copper braided wire welding, copper wire and brass terminal welding are all similar, with little difference. As long as we choose the right resistance spot welding machine and master the correct welding method, we want to achieve a good copper wire welding effect.
